I'm Jordan, and I run this on my own.

The idea's simple. Before anybody can tell you whether a shop is good, you need to know whether it will take your piece at all. An antique frame, a restaurant booth, a convertible top, a classic car's seats. Yelp and Houzz give you a star rating and a photo gallery. Neither one answers that.

So this site records what each shop says it does, in that shop's own words. Furniture workrooms, auto trim shops and boat canvas shops are different trades with different questions, so they get different sections and different columns. Nobody pays to be listed. Nobody can pay to move up a page.

Upholstery is a trade that publishes very little about itself in public, and the questions people actually arrive with are the ones it answers last. So I write those up as guides, and keep the listings to what a shop states.
